Next Thursday Hong Kongers will hold their unique annual bun fight. Participants climb a tower to grab as many steamed buns as possible, in the time allowed.

The "stuffed steamed bun" competition is held every April or May. It's intend both to honor one's ancestors and to bring good fortune for the year to come. The exterior of tower is completely hung with the buns. And those who grab the most buns are believed to have grabbed the most luck. The competitors then distribute these trophies to the watching spectators.

But this year,for the first time, the buns are being made plastic, instead of the traditional edible variety. The move to plastic buns is seen as a key safety measure.
