Beijing to host Cross-Straits Forum on economic, trade affairs

Beijing will host a two-day forum on economic and trade affairs across the Taiwan Straits, starting on Saturday.
Some 500 delegates, businesspeople, officials and scholars from both sides will attend. It will be the third such forum.
Yang Yi, spokesman State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, said, "Delegates will have thorough and comprehensive discussions on issues including the resumption of direct transport links, educational exchanges and mainland citizens travelling to Taiwan.
The forum is aimed at reaching a consensus to further promote cross-strait ties in a peaceful and stable way. No disturbance or obstacles will stop our positive efforts in developing the cross-straits ties."
