The Honorary Chairman of the Kuomintang Party has arrived in Zhengzhou in central China. Lien Chan is heading a 27-person delegation from Taiwan.
Lien will attend a ceremony in Xinzheng on Thursday. It's the hometown of the Yellow Emperor - the legendary ancestor of all Han Chinese people. He will also visit the Shaolin Temple and the ancient capitals of Luoyang and Kaifeng.
Lien will go on to tour a number of other provinces before attending the Third Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Cultural Forum scheduled for the end of April in Beijing.
This is Lien's fourth visit to the mainland since his landmark return in April 2005.
