Premier Wen Jiabao has admitted in his work report that China failed to reach its energy saving and pollution control target set a year ago. What is the response from the NPC deputies?
CCTV reporter speaks with Mr. Zhang Qunshan, a former official in charge of energy work in Southwest China's Guizhou Province.
Q1. Mr. Zhang, in your opinion, what leads to China's failure of energy consumption per GDP?
Q2. China is labelled as the world's second biggest polluter, next to the U.S. What impact will pollution have to China's long-term development?
