Officials from the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea will meet in New York for two days early next week. They'll be discussing the first steps towards normalizing relations between the two countries.

US Assistant Secretary of State, Christopher Hill, has said he's ready to meet DPRK Vice Foreign Minister, Kim Kye Gwan. Both were delegation heads at the recent Six-party talks in Beijing.

Kim is scheduled to stop-over first in San Francisco, where he'll hold talks with several non-governmental organizations. He'll arrive in New York on Friday for internal consultations before meeting with Christopher Hill.
