French FM begins 2-day visit to China

French Foreign Minister Philippe Douste-Blazy is due to begin a two-day visit to China on Wendensday.

In an interview with CCTV, he describes the ties between the two countries as "excellent." Douste-Blazy says he will meet with Premier Wen Jiabao, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and officials of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games.

The French minister says cooperation in fields such as aeronautics, rail transport, and medicine, as well as international issues including Iran, Lebanon, the Far East, and Africa, are on the agenda.
