Special Report: Iraq in TransitionThe US Senate is debating legislation aimed at showing its disapproval of President George W. Bush's plan to send more troops to Iraq.
Although the majority of U.S. senators have come out against the plan, they may not get the chance to express their stance with an actual vote.
Senators appeared on television on Sunday, discussing the merits of a resolution that has sharply divided members of the US Congress, as well as the Republican Party itself.
The heated debate came after Republican leaders on the Senate indicated on Friday that they would use procedural tools to block the Senate from voting on the resolution.
Such a resolution would constitute an official Congressional rebuke of Bush's decision to add 21,500 American troops in Iraq.
