In the Philippines, the military says it has killed five members of the Islamist group Abu Sayyaf and an Indonesian militant.
The Philippine Marine Corps says the six militants were on board a motor boat off the country's southernmost province of Tawi Tawi on Saturday. Among those killed was a Indonesian terror suspect identified as Gufran.
He allegedly belonged to the Indonesian-based militant group Jemaah Islamiyah. The marines say that among the Filipino militants killed, were top leaders Abu Hubaida and Judnam Jamalul. US and Philippine authorities had offered a reward of 20,000 US dollars for Jamalul's capture.
