China does not intentionally create a big trade surplus against the US and, it is willing to balance the trade through dialogues.
Cheng Siwei, the vice chairman of China's National People's Congress Standing Committee made the remarks when meeting with 700 senior Chinese government officials and US company executives during the weekend.
Cheng Siwei called on the US government not to politicalize the trade issues between China and the US. He stressed that China and the US are complementary trade partners. China imported hi-tech products from the US, while the US needs labor-intensive and low-end products from China.
"Goods exported from China to the US are mainly low-end products such as shoes and toys. But China imports high-price chips and hi-tech stuffs from the US." said Cheng Siwei.
In his speech to the US business communities, Cheng Siwei also touched upon the heated M&A issues. He said the newly-introduced rules on foreign M&As in China do not indicate any changes in China's opening up policy. He said the government is trying to regulate M&A activities of the overseas investors, not banning them.
