Iraq: Anti-Bush protests

George W. Bush's visit to Jordan has encountered angry protests in Amman, and defiance from Iran and Syria.

A political crisis in Iraq is also overshadowing the US-Iraq summit. As an act of protest, the party of Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr suspended the participation of its 30 lawmakers in parliament, and six Cabinet members. And Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a competing summit Wednesday with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, and called for the US to withdraw its troops from Iraq.
