Suicide bomb kills 2 more Afghans, 244 killed this year

A suicide bomber on a motorcycle has blown himself up next to a NATO convoy in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar. Wednesday's attack killed two civilians.

No troops were wounded in the explosion. It was the third straight day troops in the region had been targeted by suicide attacks. NATO officials believe insurgents are trying to make a statement, with bombings coinciding with NATO's Latvian summit on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Latest figures show 227 Afghans and 17 international soldiers have been killed in more than a hundred suicide bombings this year.
