Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi says he fears his country is on the verge of disintegration, saying he would never ever have imagined that Iraq would be in the chaotic state as it's in now. He says the US-led coalition made many mistakes after invading Iraq in 2003, including the dismantling of institutions in the country.
Allawi added, that a solution to the sectarian bloodshed and terrorism needs to be determined soon. And that dividing the nation will only worsen the violence.
Ayad Allawi said, “You know usually countries are kept by the institutions and by the civil society that it has. But this was destroyed. The fabric was destroyed when the dismantlement of institutions haphazardly occurred in a blanket kind of way.”
