Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Ali Larijani, accused Western countries of not having a real interest in resolving Tehran's nuclear standoff and insisted that Iran's government has been ready for talks.
A European draft resolution proposed to the UN Security Council is calling for a ban on the supply of materials and technology that could aid Iran's nuclear program. Larijani said Iran favors the supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency, but warned that Iran would reconsider its ties with the IAEA if the organization adopted the European proposal. In addition, Larijani said that Iran had negotiated in the past under conditions imposed by Western countries and that it was the West that didn't stick to their word and walked out on the talks.
