US troop death reached 2791 since 2003

For US troops in Iraq, October is on course to become one of the deadliest months of the war in Iraq. With a week to go, at least 78 US troops have been killed. This brings the total US death to two thousand, seven hundred and ninety-one, since March 2003.

This figure tells only part of the story. Many more troops have also suffered injuries. It has been estimated that over 44-thousand US troops have been wounded, injured or suffered from illness in Iraq since the 2003 invasion. And a recent study, published in the Lancet, a UK medical journal, placed the number of Iraqis that have died because of the war on terror at six-hundred and fifty-five thousand. The figure is much greater than the 30-thousand officially reported by the United States in December.
