Chinese delegation visits Maldives

A Chinese delegation led by Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei arrived in the Maldives on Saturday. The delegation delivered condolences to the Maldives from President Hu Jintao, Premier Wen Jiabao and the Chinese people.
During their two-day stay, they will be learning about the conditions and needs of the country following the disaster, to make sure that Chinese aid is effective. Maldives officials thanked China for its help. The delegation was in Indonesia on Friday. It will also visit other tsunami-hit countries in the region including Sri Lanka and Thailand.
