China eyes expanded cooperation with Canada

On Thursday,Wen Jiabao also spoke at the Canada-China Business Council. The Chinese Premier promised China would work with Canada to boost trade and economic cooperation.
Wen Jiabao said the Chinese government looks forward to working with the incoming Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin towards a richer, more substantive partnership.
He said China hopes two-way trade will be doubled by 2010. He said China expects to import over 1 trillion US dollars' worth of goods in the next three years.
China wants to import more from Canada, especially telecom equipment and other hi-tech products. Wen Jiabao welcomed Canadian entrepreneurs to take part in the development of western China and the revitalization of its northeastern heavy industrial base.
