Parreira not worried with Ronaldinho's lack of goals

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- Ronaldinho is in good spirits and undisturbed by not having scored goals or performed up to expectations at this World Cup, according to coach Carlos Alberto Parreira.
Ronaldinho is the only member of Brazil's "magic quartet" who hasn't scored in the team's first four matches at the World Cup.

The two-time FIFA player of the year hasn't scored for Brazil in over a year. His last goal for the national team came in June 2005 against Argentina in the Confederations Cup final, which was played in the same stadium in Frankfurt where Brazil will face France on Saturday in the World Cup quarterfinals.
"There are very high expectations about Ronaldinho, but he doesn't have the obligation to fulfill those expectations," Parreira said Friday. "He's not obligated to make a dazzling move or a decisive play every time he touches the ball."
Ronaldinho hasn't played poorly, but is far from the star who led FC Barcelona to the Spanish league and Champions League titles this season.
"He is in good spirits and hasn't been affected by this huge pressure of having to be the best player of the World Cup," Parreira said.
Ronaldinho's last goal with Barcelona was scored May 6 in the Spanish league. The midfielder was held scoreless in the three warmup matches in which Brazil outscored its opponents -- Swiss club FC Lucerne, Fluminense's under-20 squad and New Zealand -- 25-1.
Ronaldinho has 29 goals in 69 matches with the national team.
"He's not worried, which I think is great for us," Parreira said.
Ronaldinho has said he isn't losing too much sleep over not being able to score. He said his main role in the national team "is to help the other players score goals."
He set up teammates twice in Brazil's 4-1 win over Japan last week.
Ronaldinho was a member of the squad that won Brazil's fifth title at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan. He played five matches and scored two goals, including a spectacular free kick against England in the quarterfinals.
Ronaldinho led Brazil to titles in the 1999 Copa America and the 2000 pre-Olympic tournament, as well as in last year's Confederations Cup in Germany.
Parreira also said he is not worried about Ronaldo's encounter with France on Saturday.
The striker had unexplained convulsions in the hours before the 1998 World Cup final and played poorly. France won the match 3-0 at Stade de France, the last time the teams met in a World Cup.
"I've been talking to Ronaldo daily and we don't even mention what happened in 1998," Parreira said. "He is tranquil, very confident. I'm certain there won't be any trauma left in relation to '98."
Ronaldo scored his 15th World Cup goal against Ghana last Tuesday to become the tournament's all-time leading scorer. He has three goals at this year's tournament, two behind leading scorer Miroslav Klose of Germany.
