英格蘭籍主裁判格雷厄姆 波爾昨晚向媒體表示,他已經做好離開世界盃比賽的準備。他承認在執法克羅地亞與澳大利亞的比賽中，他向約瑟普 希穆尼奇出示三張黃牌，是一個值得批評的錯誤，但他認為，這個錯誤至少沒有影響比賽的結果。他解釋，這樣説不是為了開脫責任，而是這樣的事實的確讓他感到好受一些。波爾已經決定要離開國際比賽的執法，但是下個賽季還是會繼續執法英超。

GRAHAM POLL admitted last night: I was ready to quit as a ref after my World Cup nightmare.
England’s representative was one of 14 officials axed for the tournament’s closing stages.
He knows that showing Croatia’s Josip Simunic THREE yellow cards before sending the player off against Australia was to blame.
The Hertfordshire ref, 42, who even had a message of sympathy from David Beckham, will carry on in the Premiership but no longer take charge at international tournaments.
He told Sky Sports: “For the first two or three days afterwards I did think about retirement.
“I will now be refereeing in the Premiership next season. Five weeks of rest will be good and I will be fit for the kick-off on August 19.
“But it is time for me to let go of international tournaments.
“What I did was a public mistake but it didn’t affect qualification or the match outcome.
“I’m not trying to minimise the error, yet it makes it easier now for me to move on.”
