　　COLOGNE (AFP) - Swiss central defender Philippe Senderos has been ruled out of the rest of the World Cup after dislocating his shoulder in Friday's win over South Korea.

　　The Arsenal player was in the wars early on in the final Group G game suffering a cut to the bridge of his nose after heading in his side's opener in the 2-0 victory.

　　But it was during the second half that he fell awkwardly and damaged his shoulder.

　　Swiss team doctor Rudolf Roeder said that Senderos had also damaged ligaments and would be out for a minimum of two weeks.

　　"There is a 50 percent chance he will require an operation but the most important thing is rest for now," said Roeder.

　　Senderos had been outstanding at the heart of the Swiss defence as they came through the group games as the only side not to concede a goal.

　　Swiss team officials admitted his loss would be a blow to their hopes of advancing further in the tournament, but they said they had strength-in-depth.

　　"One of our strengths is that we can replace almost everybody in the team without losing too much strength," said Swiss coach Kobi Kuhn.

　　The likely replacement for Senderos will be close friend Johan Djourou.

　　Switzerland play Ukraine in a last 16 round game on Monday after finishing top of their group.
