WURZBURG (AFP) - World Cup debutante Ghana enters Tuesday's World Cup knockout match against defending champion Brazil with confidence, vowing to press the attack early and perhaps produce a shocker for the ages.
"There is no key, just trying to stop them," Ghana coach Ratomir Drujkovic said Friday. "We will really try our best. We will enjoy this match. We will play the same way we have until now. From the beginning we will start to attack them.
"I am (confident). But Brazil is Brazil."
The five-time Cup winners, featuring superstars Ronaldinho and Ronaldo, improved with every match in moving through the group stage undefeated while Ghana upset the Czech Republic and United States after a loss to Italy.
"They have big stars on their team. We just have to make the most of our situation," Ghana defender John Mensah said.
The Black Stars pulled the stunner of the tournament to date with a 2-0 triumph over the second-ranked Czechs, then dispatched the fifth-rated US squad 2-1.
"We've shown them what's in store for them," Ghana forward Razak Pimpong said. "We're a good club. We're not under pressure here. We have to show we're also here for business too.
"It's going to be a tough game. We just have to show the world we can be in the World Cup and beat Brazil."
Impressing with speed and flair, Ghana will face a squad with a similar style, what assistant coach Cecil Attiquayefo calls matching African palugo dancing against the South Americans' samba rhythms.
"We admire them in Ghana. We think they are the role models," he said. "We want to run ahead of them. We want to beat the master."
Just having the chance to dethrone Brazil is fulfilling a fantasy for midfielder Derek Boateng.
"It's a dream come true to play against this team. You can't ask for more than that," Boateng said. "We're going to do our best. We have the confidence. We're very happy and satisfied with our performance."
The squad conducted a light 90-minute morning workout here Friday at their training camp. While partying was abundant in Ghana, the team enjoyed a low-key celebration the night after advancing.
"We just relaxed," Boateng said. "There's nothing much to do here."
While Ghana has suffered no serious injuries, the Black Stars will face Brazil with their best player on the bench.
Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien will miss the match after receiving his second yellow card of the first round against the Americans to earn a suspension. But Drujkovic is confident even without him.
"He is not the engine of our team. Always 11," the 60-year-old Serbian said. "We have a few options. We will see."
