Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd is contemplating taking legal action against the FA to ensure his club is properly compensated for Michael Owen's injury.
Shepherd was furious at rumours the FA had taken out additional insurance against any injuries sustained by Wayne Rooney at the finals, arguing that all players and their clubs should be given the same treatment. The Magpies' chief claimed to have been informed by a reliable source that Rooney's special deal covered a transfer value of £30m and future career earnings.
