　　Suspensions and injuries cost Czech Republic their place in the last 16 of the World Cup, according to coach Karel Bruckner.

　　Ghana progressed into the next round at The Locomotive's expense, as Bruckner's side were unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament at the hands of Italy.

　　Midfielder Jan Polak became the second Czech player in successive games to be red-carded, and the coach believes that combined with injuries to the front-men Milan Baros, Jan Koller and Vratislav Lokvenc cost them against quality opposition.

　　"Playing with 10 men was just too difficult," the coach admitted.

　　"We lost a lot of players before the game and had suspensions, which hurt us in this tournament."

　　The second ranked team in the world's exit at the first stage of the competition has undoubtedly led to questions over the manager's position, but Bruckner is not ready to discuss that yet.

　　"It's too early to assess and think about what might happen in the future," he explained.

　　What is certain is that the Czechs will need to perform better if they are to have any impact on future tournaments, beginning with the European Championship in 2008.
