在世界盃如火如荼進行的時候，另外一項世界盃比賽也在同時進行著，這就是2006機器人世界盃足球賽。在這項比賽裏，踢球的將不是人類，而是一個個機器人。在到目前為止舉行的33屆比賽中，德國隊已經奪取了其中的11次冠軍。對此，研發小組組長安內特.施阿萬評論道：“德國機器人足球隊展示了令人信服的實力，它們戰術得當，配合默契。這也為克林斯曼的球隊提供了一個很好的榜樣。”

The German team plundered 11 of the 33 titles up for grabs, a feat that led the country’s minister for research, Annette Schavan, to remark: "The German robots played very convincingly and showed themselves to be tactically superior.
