　　This was a fair result and you have to give praise to the attitude of Portugal's team in attack, they never stopped applying pressure to the Iran defence. It is always good to see a game resolved by a moment of excellence like we saw when Deco scored the first goal in the 63rd minute with the shot from outside the penalty area.

　　It was difficult for Portugal because Iran had a defensive approach and got lots of players back in position. The Portuguese never lost faith, however. Their endeavour didn't drop and they kept pushing forward and eventually their reward came.

　　Iran showed a lot of spirit but tactically and physically they were not used to being under such pressure. Added to that was the technical level of Portugal - it remained high throughout the game.

　　Iran played their full part, however, and worried Portugal with their counterattacks. As the game went on and Portugal did not find a way through to score, you could see Iran getting more and more confident and they had their opponents in trouble now and again. But after that wonderful strike by Deco they could not respond.
