NUREMBERG (AFP) - Twenty-five supporters, many of them English, were arrested after minor scuffles broke out at the World Cup match between England and Trinidad and Tobago.
Eight other supporters seen as potential trouble-makers were held for the duration of the match and released afterwards, police said.
Apart from the thousands packing Nuremberg's Frankenstadium Thursday, there were about 40,000 England fans and 5,000 from Trinidad and Tobago in town who did not have tickets for the match.

Police said given the numbers, they were happy that the match went off without serious incident in a largely peaceful atmosphere.
"If you look at the numbers, we can say that it was a good party, without too much trouble," police spokesman Franz Stieglbauer said.
British officials had expressed concern that England's once notorious fans could make trouble at the Nuremberg match given the city's central role in Germany's Nazi past.
England beat Trinidad and Tobago 2-0.
