Becks sick of running
By NEIL CUSTIS
DAVID BECKHAM will walk out against Trinidad & Tobago with the eyes of the world upon him.
But the nerves he will feel are nothing compared with those he had before cross-country races at school.
He said: “I was borough champion for cross country and 1,500 metres but I’m glad I didn’t go into it.
“I used to feel nervous as hell — physically sick before a race.
“Running out as captain, I don’t feel anything like as nervous as I did before a cross-country race.”
Becks will play in Nuremberg’s Frankenstadion — another top venue.
But some places he would like to ply his trade have been denied him — by his lawyer. And all he wanted was a kickabout with the builders during lunch hour!
Beckham explained: “As a footballer you have so many restrictions.
“I organised a match at my house in the South of France for all the builders.
“But my lawyer phoned and said: ‘You can’t play in case you get injured’.
