　　Lippi drops Totti hint

　　AFPJune 11, 2006 HANOVER (AFP) - Italy coach Marcello Lippi hinted that Francesco Totti will start their opening World Cup match against Ghana, despite him being only 70 percent fit. "I've evaluated his condition and I've seen him improve - he will be there," Lippi said ahead of Monday's Group E game. Totti, who has played just one full match since breaking his left ankle in February and admitted on Friday that he was only 70 per cent fit, is expected to start in the hole behind strikers Alberto Gilardino and Luca Toni.

　　Lippi is likely to play a three-man midfield with Mauro Camoranesi on the right, Andrea Pirlo in the centre and Daniele De Rossi on the left.

　　Alessandro Nesta has recovered from a right thigh strain and is almost certain to partner captain Fabio Cannavaro in the centre of Italy's defence.

　　Cristian Zaccardo is expected to pip Massimo Oddo for the right-back spot and Fabio Grosso should play on the left.

　　Goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon will make his 59th appearance for the Azzurri.

　　Nesta said he was fully fit and raring to go.

　　"The leg feels good and I'm available for selection," said the AC Milan defender.

　　Asked if the squad was feeling nervous, he replied: "Of course we are, it's the World Cup. If you don't feel nervous now, then there's something wrong."

　　Injured pair Gianluca Zambrotta and Gennaro Gattuso did some light ball work and are both expected to resume full training next week.
