三獅軍團的隊長貝克漢姆聲稱英格蘭隊將會在明天在法蘭克福舉行的世界盃首場比賽中給南美球隊巴拉隊一個下馬威。

　　小貝表示英格蘭隊的勇氣和力量將會使B組的任何一個對手感到害怕。小貝認為英超非常注重身體和速度，這正是南美球隊和歐洲其他球隊所害怕的地方。

　　同時小貝還表示在過去的五年裏英超球隊在技術方面也提高了很多。力量與技術的完美結合將會使英格蘭隊在世界盃上走的很遠。

　　DAVID BECKHAM claims England are ready to scare Paraguay to death in Frankfurt tomorrow.

　　The Three Lions skipper is certain that the sheer power and courage of our players will be too much for their Group B opponents.

　　Real Madrid star Becks insisted: “The physical side of our game always scares South American teams and other teams in Europe.

　　“In Spain it’s a totally different game to the Premiership. It’s more physical in the Premiership and the game is played at a higher tempo.

　　“But the technical level in the Premiership over the past five years is also up there with any other league in the world.

　　“That combination of strength and technique does scare opponents so, if we play to our abilities in this World Cup, we will go far.”

　　Beckham admits his Madrid pals are stunned by the brute strength of the England team.

　　The former Manchester United winger, 31, added: “When we’re watching the Premiership games on TV, the Real players wince at the way John Terry and Rio go into tackles and headers.

　　“They have a lot of respect for that. They are regarded as two of the best centre-halves in the world, particularly because of the bravery we have in our back four.”

　　Becks admits he has been forced to kiss goodbye to his dodgy Spanish habits as he reacquaints himself with the macho world of English football.

　　The England captain will send his team-mates out for tomorrow’s World Cup opener against Paraguay with a firm handshake and a manly pat on the back.

　　But he admits he has had to suppress the more flamboyant inclinations he has developed from his time among Real Madrid’s Galacticos.

　　Beckham said: “Before the game on Saturday we’ll all shake hands and wish each other luck — and that’s quite different to what we do in Spain.

　　“At Madrid we all kiss each other before we go out. I nearly did it when I came off against Jamaica at Old Trafford on Saturday.

　　“Aaron Lennon was waiting to replace me and, as I approached, I reached forward to kiss him but then thought ‘No, better not’.”

　　The world’s most famous player winced when reminded that his most notable contribution to the World Cup so far came when he was sent off against Argentina in 1998.

　　He said: “Obviously I want to be remembered for more than the red card. I want to perform well, to score goals and create goals.
