　　Jermain Defoe has left England's World Cup training camp to return home.

　　The Tottenham man had been on stand-by for the squad in case Wayne Rooney failed to recover from his broken foot.

　　Defoe had been training with the England squad for the last week at their base in Baden-Baden and had impressed Sven Goran Eriksson with his attitude.

　　However, with Rooney being declared fit to play at the finals Defoe has been told he will not be in the 23-man squad.

　　The deadline for England to replace injured players passed on Friday at 2pm and with no other injuries to contend with Defoe has been allowed to leave the training camp.

　　The former West Ham man had been given the option of staying with the squad in germany, but he has decided to return to England.
