根據統計，本屆世界盃參賽球員中，幾乎有四分之一的人曾經參加過世界青年足球錦標賽。總共736名隊員中，有174人曾經參加過世青賽，佔24%,有67人參加過 U17的世青賽，134人參加過奧運會。

　　阿根廷陣中有8名雅典奧運金牌得主，其中包括阿亞拉和克雷斯波。而巴拉圭隊中也有四名雅典奧運會銀牌得主。

　　Almost a quarter of all players at 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ - 174 of 736, or 24% - have appeared at a FIFA World Youth Championship.

　　Sixty-seven players have participated in a FIFA U-17 World Championship and 134 have previously played in an Olympic Football Tournament.

　　As Olympic winners in Athens 2004, Argentina have eight gold medallists in their ranks including Roberto Ayala who ? like Hernan Crespo ? also made an appearance in the final of the 1996 Olympic Football Tournament in Atlanta. Paraguay’s team also features four Olympic silver medallists from 2004.

　　USA goalkeeper Kasey Keller stands out as a seasoned expert with plenty of youth competition experience: he lined up at the FIFA World Youth Championships of 1987 and 1989 and then made it to the senior team for the FIFA World Cup™ in 1990.
