PARIS, July 1 (Reuters) - Waving flags and sounding a cacophony of horns across Paris, French soccer fans celebrated their team's victory over holders Brazil in the World Cup's quarter-finals on Saturday.
"We'll party all night," shouted Sadri Turki, 22, jumping up and down outside a bar near the Eiffel Tower, after France beat five-times champions Brazil 1-0 with a Thierry Henry goal in the game played in Frankfurt.
"What a team! We so needed that victory," Turki said, hugging his girlfriend, who had bitten through the straw of her drink during the game's last minutes.
Striker Henry volleyed home a free kick from Zinedine Zidane for the winner after 57 minutes, securing the French team a place in the semi-finals against Portugal on Wednesday.
But France's singing, dancing and honking fans had no doubt their team would make it through to the July 9 final.
"We're going to Berlin," shouted one young man outside his car window, waving a large blue-white-red flag and joining a loud chorus of horns sounding through Paris.
Tourists walking near Paris's Champs Elysees watched on in amazement as hords of fans descended on the famous Paris boulevard, shouting "We have won! We have won!"
Big tourist buses honked on in support, while an elderly man on his bicycle vividly rang his bell, celebrating the comeback of "Les Bleus", who had stunned Brazil 3-0 in the 1998 final.
