Figo: We know England's pros and cons
Luis Figo is banking on England coming up with no nasty surprises when they meet Portugal in the quarter-final of the World Cup in Gelsenkirchen on Saturday.
Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has gone through videos of England's recent games with his players over the last few days and they are confident they know England back to front.
Said Figo: 'We know them well. We have prepared for the game and know the way they play. We just hope the English team do not surprise us.
'We are showing a great mentality in this competition. We have got to beat England in all ways. They have a great mentality but we have to be better than that mentality if we want to win.
'We respect England. They have a very good team. These kind of games are decided by small things.
'It is most important to concentrate and not do so many mistakes.'
The psychological edge is with Portugal, who beat England in the European Championships in 2004 and 2000, Figo scoring a thunderous goal in the latter.
Said Figo: 'It was a happy moment in my career, but it's over. The past is there to remember, but it can't help us in the 90 minutes.'
Figo admitted Portugal had not yet seriously practised any penalties, which is how they beat England in Euro 2004.
He said: 'It's a question of luck.'
And while he admitted the loss through suspension of influential midfielders Deco and Costinha was a blow he believed Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo, who suffered a thigh injury in the match against Holland but should be fit, could hold the key to the match.
Said Figo: 'Cristiano is much better right now. He is an important player for us. I hope his performance will help us to do a great game.
'But all eight quarter-finalists have the capability of winning the tournament.'
