Ballack's Sven warning
MICHAEL BALLACK last night told England: “We’re not afraid of you.”
The Germany skipper is bracing himself for a clash of the old foes after tomorrow’s games.
The outcome depends on the results between England and Sweden, and Germany and Ecuador.
The top team in Group B — currently David Beckham’s boys — will play the Group A runners-up — currently Ballack’s lads — in the next round. If it is England, Ballack, 29, is adamant Germany will be confident of winning.
The new Chelsea midfielder said: “We are certainly not afraid of England — and I don’t think they are afraid of us, either.
“But you can build respect through good performances and that is what we have done.
“We want to do the same in the game against Ecuador and not think about England, Sweden or Trinidad & Tobago right now.
“It is important to have a good game against Ecuador and then they will automatically have respect for us.
“A win would further boost our confidence.
“If we can add to our good performances we will have much more confidence for a potential meeting with England.”
Although England are tipped to top the group, Ballack is still wary of the threat posed by Sweden.
