　　Fabregas not afraid of the world stage

　　Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas feels the experience of reaching the Champions League final has equipped him to deal with the pressure of Spain's World Cup bid.

　　The former Barcelona youth star was handed a place in the Arsenal starting XI following Patrick Vieira's sale to Juventus last summer, becoming the fulcrum of the Gunners' midfield.

　　And the confidence gained from Arsenal's run in Europe last season is something Fabregas believes has improved him as a player.

　　'The most important thing is to have the confidence to do what you want to and that way you do not fail,' he said.

　　'With the Spain national team we are also very united and conscious that we have to battle to the end.

　　'Arsenal performed very well at tough times with the injuries they had and it meant the young and inexperienced players had to be called on.

　　'We had an incredible year getting to the final of the Champions League and finishing fourth in the Premier League and I have learnt a lot.'

　　At just 19, Fabregas has become the youngest player to represent his country at a World Cup, but he is keeping his feet firmly on the ground.

　　He added: 'The World Cup is the most important thing in football. It is the highest level that a player can play at and we have all worked very hard to get here.

　　'We have a young national team and it is important that now we all stay calm. We had a good game against the Ukraine but we cannot afford to get carried away.

　　'I have taken a big step in only one year and to be where I am now is something that I could not have contemplated at the start of the season, but with work, belief in yourself and a little bit of luck then things can work out well. I am now at the point when I want to take maximum advantage.

　　'(Argentina's Leo) Messi, Theo Walcott of England and myself are the three youngest players at the World Cup and it is a big challenge to be able to prove ourselves in a competition, with national teams as big as Spain, Argentina and England.

　　'We know that it is important to deal with the pressure but we have been coping with it since we started off.'
