巴拉圭的金童聖克魯斯説如果貝克漢姆無法贏得世界盃那麼他永遠也不會成為一位偉大的球員。

　　現效力於拜仁慕尼黑俱樂部的聖克魯斯已經在一項由德國足球雜誌《踢球者》主辦的最性感的球員的評選中打敗了貝克漢姆。在此次評選中，聖克魯斯獲得了第一名，而貝克漢姆在此次評選中甚至沒有入選前5名。

　　聖克魯斯説道，“即使你有特技，有偉大的職業生涯，但是如果你不能贏得世界盃，那麼你永遠不可能成為偉大球員的一員。而這正是世界盃獲得者貝利、馬拉多納甚至是小羅納爾多與他的不同之處。”

　　但是聖克魯斯同時表示英格蘭有很多優秀的球員，在他眼裏英格蘭隊沒有弱點。

　　PARAGUAY golden boy Roque Santa Cruz has warned David Beckham he will never be remembered as a great player unless he wins the World Cup.

　　The Bayern Munich striker, Paraguay’s dangerman against England in Frankfurt today, has already got one over skipper Becks by being voted the World Cup’s sexiest player.

　　Goldenballs Beckham will be mortified to hear he is not even ranked in the top FIVE in the survey by leading German football magazine Kicker.

　　The Paraguayan insists it is time for Becks to prove he is not just a pretty face after disappointing showings at the 1998 World Cup, where he was sent off against Argentina, and Japan 2002, when he struggled for fitness.

　　Santa Cruz, 24, said: “Even if you are a special player and have a great career, if you don’t do it in a World Cup then you will never be considered one of the all-time greats.

　　“It’s difficult in a tournament to change your form or direction if things are not going well. That’s what’s happened in the past and now he must forget the past.

　　“All of the great players have won World Cups like Pele, Diego Maradona and even Ronaldinho. That’s what sets them apart.

　　“He has the experience now, but England have many players, not just Beckham, who can carry the team. I don’t think England have a weakness.

　　“I had no idea I had been voted No 1 in the magazine poll and I don’t know what to say, to be honest!
