現任國家體育總局游泳運動管理中心跳水部主任，國家跳水隊領隊、國際遊聯跳水技術委員會委員。
1984年在洛杉磯奧運會上獲得女子10米跳臺世界冠軍，成為我國跳水項目獲得奧運冠軍第一人。 她的名字被收入國際遊聯世界名人堂，成為進入名人堂的第一位中國人跳水國際A級裁判。
1999年第11屆世界盃賽上獲得了11個項目中的10項世界冠軍。2000年第12屆世界盃上獲得13個項目中的10項世界冠軍。2000年奧運會上獲得8個項目中的5項冠軍和5項亞軍。在新的一輪週期中，中國跳水隊在2001年第九屆世界游泳錦標賽、2002年第十三屆世界盃跳水賽、2003年第十屆世界游泳錦標賽和2004年第十四屆世界盃跳水賽上，先後有45人次奪得26項世界冠軍，成績卓著，戰果輝煌。特別是2004年奧運會上，取得了6金2銀1銅的優異成績，重新奪回了中國跳水隊在世界的霸主地位，為祖國爭得了榮譽。

Gold Medal Winner of 10m platform Women, diving, at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. She is the first Chinese woman ever to win an Olympic gold medal in the 10 meter platform diving event, as well is the first diving gold medalist for China. She was named 1984 Female World Platform Diver of the Year for her powerful Olympic performance. She becomes first Chinese diving international A level referee.
In 1999, she has obtained 10 world champions of 11 projects at the 11th world cup. In 2000, she has obtains 10 world champion of 13 projects in the 12th World Cup. She also obtained five gold and five silver medals at the 27th Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. There are 45 athletes of National Diving Team successively won 26 world champions in the 9th world swimming championship, 2001; the 13th FINA Diving World Cup, 2002; the 10th world swimming championship, 2003 and the 14th FINA Diving World Cup, 2004. In 2004 at the Olympic Games, she has specially obtained 6 golden, 2 silvers and 1 copper. The excellent result has recaptured position of the National Diving Team in the world.
