Police have arrested four suspects in connection with the recent spate of syringe attacks in Northwest China's Urumqi city.

Wutkur Abdurahman, Procurator-General in Urumqi, said, "Yilipan Yilihamu, a 19-year-old male, was captured on August 28th. His arrest came four hours after a woman reported to police she had been stabbed at a roadside fruit stall.

On August 29th, Muhutaerjiang Turdi, a 34-year-old male, and Aimannisha Guli, a 22-year-old female, threatened a taxi driver with a syringe and robbed him of 710 yuan. On August 31st, Akbar Imin, a 47-year-old male, injured police with a syringe when he resisted arrest."

Chinese military medical experts have examined more than 200 victims from the syringe attacks. So far, no one has contracted diseases triggered by radioactive matters or other toxic chemicals. Further tests are underway.
