A group of 53 scholars and experts from various countries have written an open letter to Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, urging him to face up to Japan's wartime aggression.

The letter argues that Abe should not just mourn the Americans that died in the Pearl Harbor attack, but also the victims in China, on the Korean Peninsula, and in other Asian countries. The letter says Pearl Harbor was not the only place that Japan attacked on December 7, 1941.

The Japanese military struck numerous other places in the Asia-Pacific region on that day. The signatories of the letter include film director Oliver Stone and Professor Peter Kuznick of the American University in Washington.
