China and the UK have signed five collaboration agreements in creative sector. The deals went through in Shanghai on Monday, a day before the opening of the 4th Meeting of China-UK High-Level People-to-People Exchange Mechanism. Key industry players from both sides are optimistic about the prospects.

Senior officials from the Chinese and UK governments witnessed the signing ceremonies for five major commercial agreements in creative sectors.

They cover a wide range of areas, including computer games education, film and television production, and animation.

"We are here. We wanted to work with Chinese companies. We believe we have huge amount to offer, but we know we also have a great deal to learn from you. And working together, we can be so much greater," said Karen Bradley, UK Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

Film cooperation entered the fast track since the signing of a collaboration agreement in 2014.

"The creative industries in China have been booming and the market has kept growing in recent years. The UK has many talents and much experience to share with us, and it is China's important partner in developing these industries," said Tong Gang, Vice Minister of Chinese Admin of Press, Publication, Radio, Film & TV.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality are this year's technology themes. Companies are demonstrating how the technologies are shaping and changing creative industries, including games, film, television and live performance.
