To the Philippines where the military has said that two major joint exercises with US troops will be scrapped. The two cancelled war games are the Amphibious Landing Exercise and Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training, two naval exercises that includes territorial defense trainings.

The proposal to reduce the number of joint military drills came from Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte. On Thursday, he said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had offered to sell him arms during talks on the sidelines of the APEC meeting. It came after Washington halted the sale of assault rifles to the country.

"If (U.S.) Senate, I forgot, Cardin, does not want to sell rifles with us, Putin said that you can have, I'll give you buy one and take one, almost like that. He said if you cannot buy arms anywhere, go to me," said Duterte.
