Continuing in England for one of the biggest ranking events on the snooker calendar, the UK Championship. China's top potter, Ding Junhui has claimed this title twice in the past, in 2005 and 2009, and the world number five was expected to have a relatively easy time against Brazilian veteran Igor Figueiredo in the first round.

But that would not happen as Figueiredo proves quite a handful. Tied at 4 frames each, the big Brazilian is in control and a break of 105 gives him a 5-4 lead.

In the decisive tenth frame, Ding produces a brilliant snooker when he hides the cue ball behind the yellow.

And the Chinese would go on to claim the frame to force a decider.

Figueiredo comes close but misses this long red giving Ding an opening.

But Ding promptly snookers himself behind the reds.

A bit of an embarassing situation for the Chinese who is going to come very close to the yellow.

On his fourth attempt, he finally connects, but things look dire for Ding who trails by 60 points.

But Figueiredo makes a questionable shot that leaves a great opportunity for the Chinese.

Ding says thank you very much and goes on to clear the table, completing the comebakc 6-5 to reach the second round.
