The 26th edition of the China Dancesport championships concluded in Changsha on Sunday. This event would be all about encouraging the next generation of dancers as the sport waved goodbye to a couple of the nation's finest.

This three-day event covers a wide range of different dancing variations and styles. Over 400 participants from different age groups were divided in 142 different competitions.

The most interesting contest is between the defending champions, Zhao Peng and Wang Qi, who are up against Qiu Yuming and Wei Liying. Zhao and Wang are able to deliver a solid performance to retain their title from last year.

In the following event Hou Yao and Zhuang Ting defend their championship in the Latin Dance category but perhaps most astonishingly of all is the announcement of their retirement of Hou Yinshan and Tian Tian who have been flying the flag for China on the world stage for the past two decades.

Now their time away from the spotlight has come they want to concentrate on bringing some fresh faces to the sport.

"We ended our competitive career in a perfect way, but it dosen't mean the whole thing was perfect. We hope to see more young dancers. Through our skills and experience, we can help cultivate a new generation of dancers. Then it will be a perfect ending to our career," said Hou Yinshan, dancesport legend.

"The China Dancesports Championships is a comprehensive review of the dancers' efforts and the sport itself. China's dancesports is developing and improving all the time. It creates a lot of highlights for dancing," said Jiang Chao, promotion commissioner.
