In Tokyo for day three of the 2016 Asian Swimming Championships, China has been doing very well at the continental competition and they would add more medals to thier haul through Xu Jiayu who won the men's 50 meter backstroke.

Xu would set a new championship record in the final as he goes on to touch the wall in a time of 24.65 seconds, beating the previous mark of 25.03 seconds. The victory would also give Xu his third consecutive gold medal at the event. The silver would go to Japan's Shunichi Nakao who finished in 25.17 seconds.

South Korean claims his fourth gold in event

Park Tae Hwan of South Korea added a championship record to his accomplishments along with a gold medal in the men’s 100-meter freestyle. Park stopped the clock at a 48.57 seconds to dash past the previous mark of 49.27 seconds for his fourth gold in the event.

Victory gives PRC second gold medal of third day

The women’s 400-meter freestyle was highlighted by a tight field of swimmers led by China’s Li Bingjie. Li posts a time of 4 minutes, 7.16 seconds to grab China’s second gold medal of the day, while her teammate Zhang Yuhan comes in third. Sandwiched in between is Japan’s Chihiro Igarashi. 

PRC set new championship record in 3:37.10 seconds

Sun Meichen, Tang Yi, Shen Duo and Zhu Menghui represented China in the women's 4 x 100 meter freestyle relay. Hosts Japan take the lead after the first three swimmers, but China's achor Zhu would end up finishing first as the PRC claims gold in 3 minutes, 37.10 seconds, breaking the championships' record. Japan would earn the silver just over half a second behind.
