An Ironman 70.3 event will begin Sunday in Xiamen. The race will feature some of the best triathletes in the world who will compete along a scenic route in the coastal city.

Nearly 2,200 athletes representing 57 different countries will partipate in this event and show off the indomitable Ironman spirit for local and international fans. The half Ironman competition will include a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile half-marathon run. Xiamen is holding it's first Ironman ever and the city hopes to demonstrate its ability to stage a world class event.
