With just weeks to go until the United States celebrates Thanksgiving, giant balloons have taken to the sky as part of the preparations for this year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 2016 parade marks the 90th anniversary of the annual event, so Macy's is pulling out all the stops.

Giant balloons take to the sky ahead of Macy's annual parade

In celebration of the milestone this November, and as a tip of the hat to the Parade's very first character balloon, the Parade will also feature the return of DreamWorks Animation's Felix the Cat.

Designed and built using the same methods from the late 1920s, Felix will make his way down the route as he first appeared, carried on sticks, mimicking his debut appearance in 1927. The 90th Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade begins at 9 am Eastern Standard Time on Thanksgiving Day - November 24th.
