Ray Allen who won championships in Boston and Miami and made one of the most memorable shots in NBA finals history has announced his retirement. It's been two years since he last played in the NBA and he goes out with the record for the most 3-pointers in league history.

Allen announced his retirement yesterday in a post on the Players' Tribune website. He spent 18 seasons in the league with Milwaukee, seattle, the celtics and the Heat, averaging 18.9 points in 1300 regular-season games and appearing in 10 All-star Games.

Allen had the record for 3-pointer in a season for 7 years, his mark of 269 standing until Stephen Curry made 272 in 2012-13---a record Curry has topped twice.

In all, Allen made 2973 3-pointers in regular season games.
