Ahead of the 2016 Ryder Cup, European captain Darren Clarke has named his three wild card choices for the international team tournament in Minnesota on September 30th. The Northern Irishman has given the nod to the experienced Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer while the young Thomas Pieters is also included having recently picked up his third professional win at the Made in Denmark tournament.

The 24-year-old Pieters turned pro in 2013 and after finishing tied for 30th at his first Open Championship earlier this year he followed that up by only just missing out on a medal at the Olympics by finishing 4th.

Germany's Kaymer is no stranger to the Ryder Cup and this latest inclusion marks his fourth appearance against the Americans. The former world number 1 has been a part of the last three victorious European teams.

Probably the most experienced out of the trio is England's Westwood who will be representing his continent for a 10th time. The 43-year-old has been described by Clarke as his general and is looking to him to lead the younger players on the team.
