On the same day the world record holder in women's pole vault, Russian superstar Yelena Isinbayeva announced her retirement, she was elected to the International Olympic Committee athletes' commission, despite being excluded from Rio. Sebastian Coe, president of the IAAF, shared his thoughts on the appointment.

We are pleased Yelana Isinbaeva joins fellow athletes Amadou Dia Ba and Stefan Holm from our sport on the IOC Athletes Commission.
