Brazil was under scrutiny for a litany of things, being over budget, security issues, the Zika virus, to name a few.

But, Brazil's interim President Michel Temer says his country has performed well in hosting the Olympics. He also encouraged Brazilians to actively participate in the upcoming Paralympic Games.

Brazil's interim president believes the country has put on fantastic show

Temer said, "I want to congratulate you all. During the briefing at the last IOC meeting in Rio, the organizing committee and I confess, at that time, it was the first time I was really concerned about the organization of the Olympics, and would the security and safety of the Games be an issue."

"Despite all of it, the opening ceremony was spectacular, we were just talking about the number of tourists in the streets and active participation in the Games, this is the first point."

"The second point, security is going well, because of the national and provincial governments. Brazil is making a beautiful Olympic games. About the medal count we still have some events to participate in, and we have chances to win more medals."

"We the state of Rio de Janeiro will be recognized across the globe for our ability to organize and structure these Games. "

"I want to point out that the Olympic will be over Sunday, but after that we still have the paralympics.

Excitement from Olympics can carry over to next month's Games

"I was talking about it just now, and I want to insist that people be proactive and present the attitude that the Brazilian people have been showing since the opening ceremony and during the Olympics."
