China's divers are deep into preparations for Rio. The country won six of the eight gold medals on offer at the 2012 London Games, and seven in Beijing in 2008. Team members have captured 33 titles overall since 1984, but getting ready to compete at this year's outdoor venue in Brazil, is proving quite challenging.

The squad is in its fourth week of intense training in Guangzhou, and training outside has been a major adjustment for many, who are used to competing indoors. But with all of the events at the Games taking place at an open air facility, the athletes will need to be ready to dive in any type of weather. The conditions are expected to vary between sunny and rainy over the course of the Olympics. And even though it is technically winter in Brazil, temperatures don't change much in the tropical country. That means the divers are mainly expecting a lot of humidity, with a dash of the unexpected.
